Panama City took the #1 spot in our online poll. With its wide beaches filled with white sand and emerald green waters, there's no doubt why people flock to this small beach town.Any state that's surrounded on three sides by ocean needs its own category. That's why Florida stands in a region all its own. Even so, it was hard to narrow down the choices because Florida has such phenomenal beaches. Each side of the state has its own particular beach "flavor," so to speak. The panhandle, also called the Emerald Coast, is known for its wide beaches with soft, white sand. The East Coast of the state is known for more narrow beaches, but the beaches carry a lot more action nearby: Cape Canaveral and Miami.
