Panama City Beach Pirates Join United Soccer League

Get ready for soccer at the Beach! The highly competitive soccer team, the Panama City Beach Pirates, have officially joined the United Soccer League (USL) family in November, 2011, as one of eight Premier Development League teams (PDL) within the Southeast Division and will be calling Panama City Beach home. The PDL is comprised of 73 teams making up nine divisions throughout the United States, Canada and Bermuda.

The PCB Pirates will play a total of 16 games over the summer months against teams throughout Florida and Mississippi. The season runs from mid-May through July and includes eight (8) home games which will be played at Gavlak Stadium.

The PCB Pirates organization will provide numerous opportunities to players of all ages through camps, clinics, tournaments and special events. The advantage that the USL and PDL will offer to our community are unmatched in the Northwest Florida region; giving the Panhandle youth the same exposure to high level soccer as seen in large regions of the country.

The managing owners for the PCB Pirates, Dr. Eehab Kenawy, Jill Holt, and Amy Dalton, came together in order to bring the next level of soccer in the Panhandle of Florida. This is an incredible opportunity for both our youth and local community businesses, as it provides a safe, family-friendly event for local residents and visitors, and a much needed source of community pride and enthusiasm for Northwest Florida.

The PCB Pirates have recently secured head coach, Greg DeVito. Coach DeViito, a former PDL player, is currently a regional college prep coach, as well as a current Olympic development coach for the state of Florida.

There will be a press conference on Friday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. in the boardroom of the PCB Convention and Visitors Bureau to make the official announcement. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the owners. www.panamacitybeachpirates.com
