Hurricane Michael Insurance Consumer Village

More than 1,300 insurance complaints have been filed related to Hurricane Michael and 18,632 claims are still open in Bay County. In response to the prolonged issues consumers are having with insurance companies, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis will deploy an insurance consumer village in Panama City, Monday, May 6 and Tuesday May 7. His Division of Consumer Services team will be on site as well as Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier and a team from the Office of Insurance Regulation.

CFO Patronis’ Division of Consumer Services will be joined by the following insurance companies:
Universal Property & Casualty, USAA, Security First Insurance Company, State Farm, Gulfstream Property & Casualty, Citizens Property Insurance Corp, St. Johns Insurance Company, Tower Hill Signature Insurance Company, American Integrity Insurance Company of Florida, Tower Hill Prime Insurance Company, Tower Hill Select Insurance Company, Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Auto-Owners Insurance Company, Southern Owners Insurance Company, Safe Harbor Insurance Company, National Fire & Marine Insurance Company, US Coastal Property & Casualty, All State Insurance Company, and American Strategic Insurance (ASI Preferred Insurance)

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “It is devastating to see families and businesses still struggling six months later. I can’t go one day without someone reaching out to me tell their story and it’s unacceptable. This insurance village will serve as a way for area residents to get real answers so they can get back to normal before hurricane season begins again.”
