Invention Convention/STEM Expo 2020
Posted on: September 24, 2019
2020 will be the third year Gulf Coast State College, Florida State University, Bay District Schools and NSWCPCD have collaborated to bring Invention Convention to our students and our communities. It has grown each year, and we hope to continue that trend.
Planning for the 2020 event is beginning, and while the exact date has not been determined, I wanted everyone to be aware of what is being planned, hoping that you will find something in this event that will be worthy of your participation.
Bay District Schools is currently working with students on inventions, and there will be a middle/high school competition within BDS. GCSC and FSU PC will host the invention competition for Haney Technical Center, GCSC, FSU PC as well as the community. Your business may well contain inventors/inventions worthy of entering this competition.
In addition, FSU PC and GCSC host what we now call STEM Expo that brings in the equipment that exists here in Bay County that utilizes STEM in various ways. These displays have ranged from small, bomb disposal robots to a Huey helicopter. We typically close Collegiate Drive, so there is plenty of room between the ATC at Gulf Coast and the Holley Center at FSU PC. My goal is to see that space filled with trucks and booms and ROVs and campers and motorcycles and more!
Please be aware of what will come next Spring, and please talk to your folks to encourage them to invent and to be creative. There is money attached to first through third place! For more information, please contact Ginger Littleton at [email protected]
