Lynn Haven, Florida – Hurricane Michael is not putting a damper of one of Lynn Haven’s most beloved events- the 4th of July celebration. This annual celebration is filled with a series of free family fun events throughout the City. The theme this year is “Stars, Stripes and Strong.” The day kicks off with Prayer at 8:30 a.m. and then the 4th of July Parade.
This year the Commission chose two Grand Marshals for the Stars, Stripes, and Strong Parade: Hilary Keeley and Leon Miller. Ms. Keeley was instrumental getting in the first truck load of food and supplies to the City right after Hurricane Michael and planned the Hometown Thanksgiving Event. Mr. Leon Miller is a long time resident of the City is a cornerstone for the City of Lynn Haven.
After the parade, participants can head to Sharon Sheffield Park where dozens of vendors and free family activities take place. Last year’s favorite, the watermelon eating contest back! Last year over 50 contestants participated in this fun-eating contest.
The City will end the night at A. L. Kinsaul Park where there will be live music by one of Lynn Haven’s favorites True Soul and great food from local vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy the festivities. The finale will end with a bigger and better fireworks show display starting at 9:00 pm.

Mayor Margo Anderson stated, “This 4th of July will be the best once we have had yet. Despite all that we are still dealing with, we all need time to come together and celebrate. We look forward to seeing everyone in their best starts and stripes as we remain strong here in Lynn Haven”
Local schools, groups and businesses are invited to participate. Parade spots are still available. To participate please complete a Parade Form which can be found via the City of Lynn Haven website.
